MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal Security Service (FSB) representative Alexander Zdanovich said that Arab mercenaries operating in Chechnya are getting arms from Georgia.
Presenting rebel weapons found during special operations in Chechnya, Zdanovich said that in some areas of Chechnya, "Arab mercenaries are actively operating, and you have seen Arabic words written on more serious types of weapons."
"According to information possessed by the operative headquarters, these weapons, including portable surface-to-air missile systems, came from Georgia, and Arab mercenaries may be training specialists to use these systems in Georgia," he said.
"I even do not rule out that the rebels could have received these systems from Georgian army stores," Zdanovich told RTR television.
