Federal sappers complete mine clearance in Chechnya's Chiri-Yurt

KHANKALA. March 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal sappers have completed mine clearance operations at industrial installations and in the residential areas of the Chiri-Yurt village in the Shali district of Chechnya, the district's military commandant Colonel Gennady Nakhayev told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.

"Sappers inspected some 300 industrial and residential installations in a month," Nakhayev said. According to him, "the former cement plant was the installation that suffered worst from active combat operations." "Sappers found dozens of unexploded mines and shells as well as explosive devices planted by rebels in its territory," the commandant said.

Nakhayev stressed that "the mine clearance operation in Chiri-Yurt was completed without any considerable difficulties, and there are no losses among servicemen."
