TBILISI. March 26 (Interfax-AVN) - A group of officers from a French mountain rifle division is to arrive in Tbilisi on Tuesday.
The French officers will visit the Sachkheri guard battalion, which is a special base of Georgian mountain riflemen, the Georgian Defense Ministry has told Interfax.
The French officers will closely study the condition of the Georgian military unit in order to provide it with necessary assistance in the future.
According to data available to the Defense Ministry, the assistance of the French government was used to open two French classes in the Georgian Military Academy in February. In addition, cadets of the academy got computer hardware and uniform.
A unit of the French Legion took part in the NATO exercise in the Georgian port of Poti in June 2001.
The French officers are also planning to hold meetings at the Georgian state border protection department during their stay in Tbilisi.
