Federal forces launch special operation in Chechnya's Tsotsin- Yurt

GROZNY. March 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Units of the military commandant's office and law-enforcement agencies launched a special operation in the Tsotsin-Yurt village of Chechnya's Kurchaloi district on Tuesday, the district's administration head Makkal Taisumov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The village is completely sealed off and the Grozny- Kurchaloi road is tapped. According to Taisumov, the reason for the operation was a blast of a landmine under a federal APC on the outskirts of the village as well as an engagement with rebels which claimed the life of one serviceman.

Six special operations are underway in the Vedeno, Nozhai- Yurt, Gudermes and Shali districts of the breakaway republic, a spokesman for the regional operational headquarters in charge of the Chechnya campaign told Interfax-Military News Agency. Four rebels have been detained in the course of the operations and their involvement in terrorist acts is already proved. In addition, federals detained 18 suspected rebels, the spokesman said.
