ST. PETERSBURG. March 26 (Interfax-Northwest) - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) continues to hold consultations with its Georgian colleagues, and FSB experts are currently in Tbilisi to discuss the involvement of Russian security specialists in an operation in the Pankisi Gorge, FSB Director Nikolai Patrushev told a news briefing in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
He said, however, had he had not discussed the issue with Georgian officials at the recent international conference of secret services on measures against terrorism.
"We held such negotiations earlier. I personally met and talked about the issue with the Georgian president," Patrushev stressed.
"There is mutual understanding at the level of the special services," the director said.
FSB experts have been sent to Georgia "not just to discuss and speculate on something but to organize joint work," he said.
"I believe that the meeting will have feasible results, on which we will report," Patrushev added.
