Missile system operators from Leningrad military district assembled at Kapustin Yar fire grounds

ST. PETERSBURG. March 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Detachments of the missile brigade stationed in the Leningrad military district under command of Colonel Alexei Teptsov have been assembled at the Kapustin Yar state firing grounds in the lower straits of the Volga river, a spokesman for the district's missile and artillery headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

The spokesman said that missile operators of the brigade had to launch Tochka-U tactical missiles at the Luzhsk artillery grounds for eight years due to inadequate financing. The problem is that it was impossible to model proper tactical background in Luzhsk, the spokesman added.

He also said that the personnel of the detachments was undergoing a comprehensive training course, its principal objective being preparations for full-scale tactical exercises providing for live missile launches. The exercises are to be carried out within the final stage of the training session.
