Army-level CPX to take place in North Caucasus in April

VLADIKAVKAZ. March 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The 58th army headquartered in Vladimikavkaz and will start a command post exercise (CPX) on April 5, a spokesman for the army headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.

The CPX will be overseen by North Caucasus military district commander Colonel General Gennady Troshev.

Participants in the training will practice putting the army on various stages of alert. It addition, they will work on several practical issues related to organization and conduction of a defensive combat, cooperation of units and formations with operations groups of the North Caucasus district of the Interior Ministry troops and local bodies of the Federal Security Service (FSB) and Interior Ministry.

Special attention will be paid to the development of the army's control system, enhancement of skills of commanders and headquarters and their ability to make decisions in extraordinary situations.

The exercise will end on April 8.

The 58th army is under command of Lieutenant General Valery Gerasimov.
