Federal sappers prevent terrorist act in Chechnya's Gudermes

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. March 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Sappers of a composite special motorized regiment from the Volga district of the Interior Ministry troops have prevented a terrorist act in Gudermes, chief of the district's press service Lieutenant Colonel Igor Sofronov told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.

Local teenagers contacted the sappers in a Gudermes street saying that an electric torch under which a grenade body can be seen was lying on the ground near a bus terminal. The territory around the bus terminal was sealed off. The servicemen found a pack of three PGD-5 fragmentation grenades and a 400g TNT charge under the torch. The explosive device was blasted without any casualties among local residents and federal servicemen.

It is the third time this year when Chechens report to federals on planted explosive devices, Sofronov said.
