MOSCOW. April 2 (Interfax-AVN) - An armed paratrooper who went AWOL from his unit in the central Russian city of Ryazan early on Tuesday was detained at the city market a few hours later, a source in the Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Private Borovkov, serviceman of the 137th paratrooper regiment, was detained by a military patrol at 8.30 a.m. Moscow time (0430 GMT). He said he wanted "to buy food at the market" and bring it back to his unit, the source said.
