MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax-AVN) - A Land Forces Command commission which arrived in St. Petersburg on Sunday has started a record check of the results of combat training for the winter training period in the Leningrad military district, Lieutenant General Alexander Gerasimov, a commission member and deputy head of the Armed Forces main combat training department, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
The commission that includes chiefs of the Defense Ministry's main and central departments will work in the district for five days checking the quality of combat training in its units and formations, the state of military equipment and armament, efficiency of application of new trainers and other cheap means of personnel training over the winter period.
Commission members will focus their attention on the organization of combat training in permanent readiness units, use combat experience gained in the Chechnya campaign by commanders, Gerasimov said.
"The case primarily concerns the 138th separate motorized rife brigade of permanent readiness stationed in the Kamenka village. It will be inspected by specialists of the Armed Forces main combat training department led by its chief Lieutenant General Alexander Skorodumov," Gerasimov stressed.
According to him, results of the inspection will be summed up in the Leningrad military district headquarters by Land Forces Commander and Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Kormiltsev on Friday.
