Work of Russian military research institute may be disrupted by power supply limitation

VORONEZH, European Russia. April 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The limitation of energy supplies may disrupt the work on decreasing stealth capabilities of aircraft that is underway at the 5th Central R&D Institute of the Defense Ministry, a spokesman for the institute told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

"Energy supplies to the institute have been limited for more than a month, and its employees are paid salaries after protracted delays," the spokesman said. "In February, officers of the institute even filed a collective claim to the state leaders but got no answer," he stressed.

The leadership of the Voronezhenergo energy grid decided to limit energy supplies to the institute in early March and explained it by the fact that the institute had not taken any measures to extinguish its debt to energy providers in spite of numerous demands from Voronezhenergo to pay for energy supplies in time. According to the enterprise, the debt amounts to some RUB200,000 (USD6,406).

The 5th institute is one of the best scientific organizations of the Defense Ministry. It is led by distinguished researcher, doctor of technical sciences Professor Anatoly Yarygin. The institute received a Russian government prize in science and technology for the production of a plasma system intended for decreasing aircraft's stealth capabilities.
