TBILISI. April 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The Bereg 2002 command post exercise (CPX) of the Georgian Armed Forces will start in the vicinity of the Poti port on Wednesday, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"The exercise will involve the General Staff of the Armed Forces, headquarters and units of the Land Forces including the 21st and 25th motorized rifle brigades stationed in Kutaisi and Batumi, as well as units of the Navy, Air Force and Air Defense," the spokesman said.
Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Dzhoni Pirtskhalaishvili will supervise the exercise. A total of about 3,000 servicemen will take part in the war games.
The exercise will focus on interaction of units from various armed services in combat conditions. "The training of headquarters will end on April 12 with practical maneuvers which are to involve all vessels of the Georgian Navy based in Poti," the spokesman said.
