Russian chief-of-staff checks combat readiness of joint-arms army in Far Eastern military district

KHABAROVSK. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin, who is making a working visit to the Far Eastern military district, on Thursday checked combat readiness of the 5th joint-arms army led by Major General Alexander Stolyarov and headquartered in the town of Ussuriysk, Maritime territory, a spokesman for the district headquarters said..

"On Thursday morning the chief-of-staff heard a report of the army's commander on combat readiness and military discipline; after that he visited several units and formations," the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency. In particular, Kvashnin checked combat and mobilization readiness of a motorized rifle regiment organic to a division led by Major General Rogovoi. He analyzed the organization of planning, progress of combat training, state of materiel, armament and combat equipment.

Later in the day Kvashnin is planning to inspect a separate airborne brigade led by Colonel Ivanov and an affiliate of the Ryazan Military Automobile Institute located in Ussuriysk. The chief-of-staff is expected to attend the final training of a district unit. The record inspection of combat training for the winter period will take place in the district from April 15 to 27.
