ALMATY. April 11 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - The presence of U.S. servicemen in Central Asia will not last long, Vladimir Rushailo, the Russian Security Council secretary and chairman of the Committee of Security Council Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty members, said at a briefing in Almaty on Thursday.
The presence of U.S. servicemen in Central Asia "will not be long-lasting and will be limited by the duration of the anti- terrorist operation in Afghanistan. We will see how much time it will take," Rushailo said.
A fourth meeting of the Committee of the Security Council Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty members opened in Almaty on Thursday. This organization includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Rushailo said that the Collective Security Treaty's influence on the regional and international situation should increase. The role of this organization has been discussed by the security council secretaries and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Rushailo stated.
The Collective Security Treaty organization is open to all, said Rushailo.
