Space Troops military council discusses spending of funds, resources

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Space Troops military council discussed spending of funds and resources at its expanded session on Thursday, the troops press service reported.

The session took place after the inspection of financial and economic activities of the Space Troops by the Defense Ministry financial inspection commission.

According to Space Troops Commander Anatoly Perminov, that was the first session of the military council when participants discussed results of financial and economic activities since the troops establishment.

Colonel Nikolai Parnyshkov, Space Troops deputy commander in charge of logistics support and chief of the troops' logistics support department, said in his report that in spite of lack of funds in 2001 the troops managed to maintain the logistics support level and make headway in several spheres. There were no breaks in cargo delivery even though the volume of transportation grew by 30 percent, and measures are being taken to pay back arrears in compensation for food and property ration.

Participants in the session noted that a lot of work had been done to implement purpose-oriented programs, such as development of infrastructure for space missile systems at the Plesetsk cosmodrome and completion of preparations to putting the Volga radar in Belarus on combat duty.
