KHANKALA. April 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal forces have eliminated 10 rebels in a skirmish with a guerilla group near the Duba-Yurt village in the Shali district of Chechnya, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
"The retreating rebels failed to take away corpses of their comrades, and their identification is underway. No casualties were registered among federals," the spokesman said.
According to him, rebels attacked federal installations six times on Thursday. The highest sabotage activity was registered in the Zavodskoy district of Grozny and the town of Argun.
The group headquarters obtained a reconnaissance report that rebels are preparing a wide-scale terrorist and sabotage act on the road connecting the villages of Tolstoi-Yurt and Chervlennaya. Scouts of the federal group registered concentration of several small rebel groups in a forest near the Staroshchedrinskaya and Starogladkovskaya villages in the Shelkovskaya district. Federal units left for the area to eliminate the rebels.
Federal units carried out a total of five special operations in Grozny and the Grozny rural, Vedeno and Sunzha districts on Thursday. They seized 11 assault rifles, some 70 artillery shells, 60 mines, 80 hand grenades, six portable antitank grenade launchers, over 6kg of explosives and almost 6,000 small-arms cartridges from detected caches.
