SUKHUMI. April 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Units of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict zone continued accommodating an observer post in the Kodori gorge according to reports as of 3.30 a.m. Moscow time (11300 GMT) on Friday.
"Servicemen are accommodating the post and getting ready for accomplishment of assigned missions, the situation is stable," a spokesman for the force headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.
He refuted reports that peacekeepers had been blockaded by locals right after landing in the Kodori gorge. "There were no emergency situations during the landing," he said.
Peacekeeping units landed in the vicinity of the Azhara village in the Kodori gorge early on Friday for reopening the 102nd observer post. Commander of the peacekeeping forces Major General Alexander Yevteyev made the decision to restore the post in accordance with the protocol on stabilization in the Kodori gorge.
