MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Over 50 tactical exercises of artillery batteries with live firing were held in the course of field training of airborne missile and artillery units that ended on Thursday, Major General Alexander Grekhnev, chief of the airborne missile and artillery troops, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
According to the general, the field training involved "practically all missile and artillery units and their headquarters." "All of them were tested in live firing in the course of artillery fire control," he stressed.
Grekhnev noted that the training featured 14 tactical and control exercises with live firing in control over fire of battalions and three control exercises with live firing and control over fire of artillery regiments.
According to early results, the best results were achieved by artilleries of the 98th airborne division, 76th airborne division and an artillery regiment under command of Colonel Sergei Kovalyov. The 98th division is headquartered in Ivanov and its artillery is led by Colonel Yuri Puzakov, 76th division is headquartered in Pskov and its artillery is led by Colonel Nikolai Konevnikov.
The artillery of the 137th paratrooper regiment stationed in Ryazan was considered the best among paratrooper regiments. Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Rasshchupkin is in command of the regiment's artillery.
