KALININGRAD. April 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The Baltic Fleet has put up to auction 19 former military compounds vacated as a result of the fleet grouping's reduction in the Kalininingrad region.
Head of the fleet's naval engineering service Colonel Vitaly Perevozchikov told Interfax-Military News Agency that 163 buildings estimated at over RUB51m (USD1.63m) had been put up for sale this year.
Very few organizations and individuals are willing to purchase the compounds. Participants in the bidding say they are turned off by high prices of half-ruined and plundered buildings.
