Two rebels killed in clash in Grozny

GROZNY. April 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The police clashed with a group of rebels in Grozny's Leninsky district on Sunday. Two rebels were killed.

A unit of the Leninsky district temporary police department came under fire from a building on Kosiora Street. The policemen opened fire too, sources in the Chechen interior department told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

After a short skirmish the federals examined the site and found two corpses of guerrillas, natives of the Achkhoi-Martan district. Kalashnikov assault rifles, grenades, an electric wire and fragments of home-made explosive devices were found on their bodies.

An investigation brigade is working at the site. There were no casualties among servicemen or policemen.
