Commission starts inspecting Russian military base in Armenia

TBILISI. April 16 (Interfax-AVN) - A commission of the Russian troops group in the Trans-Caucasus started a comprehensive inspection of the 102nd Russian military base in the Armenian town of Gyumri on Tuesday, a spokesman for the group headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The commission led by the group's commander Lieutenant General Nikolai Zolotov is to check combat and mobilization readiness of the base, the state of its armament and equipment.

"The inspection plan does not envisage any field training or marches of the base's units to concentration areas," the spokesman said.

The commission which involves officers of several departments of the group's headquarters will work in the garrisons of Gyumri and Yerevan until the end of the week.
