ROSTOV-ON-DON. April 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Law-enforcement agencies of the Rostov region have summed up results of the Inostranets operation which was held from March 25 to April 16 this year, a spokesman for the Rostov region police department told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
Policemen involved in the operation seized 44 pieces of firearms, 258 pieces of ammo and some 2kg of explosives from illegal turnover. In addition, they detained 14 people, who were on the federal wanted list.
The problem of illegal migration is getting more serious with each year, the spokesman said. The number of crimes committed by foreigners is growing. Crimes committed by residents of the CIS countries amount of 92 percent of offenses committed by foreigners.
The main spheres of criminal group activity are drug trafficking, smuggling and transportation of cheap labor. Foreigners attempt to control retail trade, construction and other spheres of economy avoiding taxes.
According to the spokesman, 2,710 people were brought to administrative responsibility as a result of the Inostranets operation. 194 violations were found in the customer market sphere and 158 in the construction sphere.
As many as 261 crimes have been registered in the Rostov region in the past 24 hours and 182 of them were detected hot on the trail.
