Commission of Leningrad military district hq starts inspecting 200th motorized rifle brigade

ST.PETERSBURG. April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Generals and officers of the Leningrad military district headquarters led by the district's commander Colonel General Valentin Bobryshev got down on Wednesday to inspecting the 200th separate motorized rifle brigade stationed in the vicinity of the Pechenega village within the Polar circle, a spokesman for the district headquarters said.

The inspection takes place under the auspices of the final spring check, the spokesman told Interfax-Military News Agency.

In the course of the winter training period the command of the 200th brigade led by Colonel Sergei Romanenko did its best to improve combat harmonization, teach units to operate at night, and master experience gained in the Chechnya campaign.

Head of the district's combat training department Major General Oleg Kovalevich personnel of the brigade's units and formations will report on all training subjects before the end of the week. The inspection will end with a company-level tactical exercise with live firing.

Combat skills of the district troops were evaluated by officials of the Land Forces command and Nikolai Kormiltsev, Land Forces commander and deputy defense minister, last week. The main attention was paid to a permanent readiness unit which is the 138th separate guard motorized rifle brigade stationed in the Kamenka village in the Leningrad region.
