Next leg of Russian-Georgian consultations on military bases withdrawal scheduled for late April

TBILISI. April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - A next leg of the Russian- Georgian consultations on the implementation of the Istanbul agreements on Russian military bases in Georgia will take place in Moscow in late April, a spokesman for the Georgian Foreign Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

"During those consultations the Georgian party hopes to receive from their Russian colleagues technical calculations on the terms" of withdrawal of the 12th and 62nd military bases located in Batumi and Akhalkalaki respectively.

Georgian Foreign Minister Irakly Menagarishvili said "we believe that three years are enough to withdraw the bases, but the Russian party claims to need at least 14 years." "Having received the Russian party's calculations, we will be able to analyze concrete parameters which account for the withdrawal term according to Moscow," he said.

Menagarishvili stressed that "specific conditions of temporary stationing of the Russian military bases in Georgia will depend on the terms we will manage to agree on."
