TBILISI. April 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Abkhazia has started concentrating armed units near the city of Tkvarcheli in the lower part of the Kodori Gorge, Georgian State Security Minister Valery Khaburdzania told reporters on Thursday.
Representatives of the UN mission to Abkhazia should double- check this information, as "such a concentration of armed forces in the security area violates all the previously reached agreements," he said.
In the meantime, not only Abkhaz units, but also Russian units have been concentrating in the lower part of the Kodori Gorge over the past few days, Georgian parliamentarian Iveri Chelidze told reporters.
Their number exceeds 500, the parliamentarian said.
Chelidze believes that Abkhazia is planning to storm the upper part of the Kodori Gorge, which is currently controlled by Georgia, with the help of the Russian army.
