British instructors to train Georgian Interior Ministry's anti- terrorist units

TBILISI. April 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Instructors from special units of the British Home Office will train personnel of anti- terrorist units subordinate to the Georgian Interior Ministry, a spokesman for the ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

"An agreement on the matter was reached by Georgian Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili and his British colleagues in the course of negotiations in London," the spokesman said.

According to him, "the training of personnel from anti- terrorist groups will take place in both Georgia and Great Britain." The British party also expressed its readiness to provide special equipment to the Georgian colleagues.

"Concrete spheres of aid will be determined in corresponding pilot programs; their details are discussed by Narchemashvili in London on Monday," the spokesman stressed.

"A group of 24 representatives of the Georgian Interior Ministry is staying in the United States; they are involved in a 45-day anti-terrorist exercise together with American commandos," the spokesman added.
