ST. PETERSBURG. April 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The military delegation of the Norwegian ground forces' college is to arrive in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, a spokesman for the headquarters of the Leningrad military district told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
The spokesman said that the delegation was headed by chief of the college. The program of the visit provides for a meeting between the Norwegian servicemen and chief-of-staff and first deputy commander of the Leningrad military district Colonel General Pavel Labutin. Members of the Norwegian delegation are also to visit the district's training center based in the vicinity of St. Petersburg, as well as to familiarize themselves with life conditions of cadets of the Military Communications University and Physical Culture Institute.
In addition to that, members of the delegation will visit the Artillery, Engineer and Communications Museum, the Petropavlovsk fortress and Piskarev memorial cemetery.
The visit is to be over on April 28.
The spokesman added that Russian servicemen would make a return visit to the Norwegian ground forces' college in autumn.
The college was set up in 1750 and is now one of the oldest military colleges on Norway. Before entering the college applicants are to graduate from a sergeant school and serve in the troops for at least one year. The training course consists of two cycles lasting two years each. Once the first cycle is completed, cadets are to serve in the troops for two years. After that they continue their course at the college. Most officers have junior officer ranks in their first cycle.
