MOSCOW. April 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Lieutenant General Nikolai Rogozhkin has been appointed chief-of-staff of the Interior Ministry troops, Colonel Vasily Panchenkov, head of the troops' press bureau, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
Rogozhkin replaced Hero of Russia Colonel General Mikhail Pankov, who was appointed deputy interior minister in the Southern federal district.
Rogozhkin was born in the Tambov region in 1952. He graduated from the Kharkiv higher tank college, Armored Troops Academy and General Staff Academy. Rogozhkin has served in the Interior Ministry troops since 2000. Prior to his current appointment he was deputy commander and chief of the combat training department in the Interior Ministry troops.
