MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The Almaz-Antei consortium will be set up on the basis of enterprises developing and producing air defense systems, sources in the defense industry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
According to them, President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the consortium's establishment.
The consortium will comprise over 40 enterprises including the Antei consortium, Almaz research and production association, Kuntsevo design bureau, Ulyanovsk mechanical plant, Moscow's Fakel design bureau, Altair research and production association, Moscow's Agat R&D institute, Avangard mechanical plant, also in Moscow, and AVITEK enterprise located in the town of Vyatka.
Component parts of the Antei consortium, including the R&D Electromechanical Institute, Kupol state-owned unitary enterprise, Arsenal plant, Soyuz design bureau, Novator plant and Strela R&D Institute, will be included in the new corporation as well.
Almaz-Antei will develop and produce air defense systems for all armed services, the sources said.
At the same time, Putin's press service told Interfax-AVN it had not received the text of the decree.
