Russian DM optimistic about signing agreement on strategic offensive weapons with U.S.

LIPETSK, Central European Russia. April 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov is optimistic about prospects of signing a Russian-U.S. treaty on strategic offensive weapons reduction.

"I am optimistic about the progress in elaboration of the documents," Ivanov told reporters in Lipetsk on Friday.

"We still proceed from believing that elaboration of the treaty is quite real on the principles that the Russian and U.S. presidents outlined. It is real reduction, equal security and legally binding nature of the document," he stressed.
