KamAZ automobile plant gets new director general

NABEREZHNYE CHELNY, Tatarstan Autonomous Republic. April 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Sergei Kogogin, deputy prime minister and minister of economy and finance in the Tatarstan autonomous republic, has been elected director general of the KamAZ JSO at a recent session of the plant's board of directors, the enterprise's press service reported on Saturday.

Kogogin replaced Ivan Kostin, whose contract expired on January 30 this year.

The new director general was born in the city of Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan, in 1957. He graduated from the Kazan State University in 1982 with a diploma in radiophysics. He is a candidate of economic sciences.

Kogogin started working as an engineer in 1982 and became head of the Zelenodolsk machine-building plant in 1990. From 1994 to 1999 he headed the administration of the Zelenodolsk district and city of Zelenodolsk. In May 1999 Kogogin became deputy prime minister and minister of economy and finance in the Tatarstan republic.
