KHANKALA. May 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Federal sappers defused 11 explosive devices in Chechnya on Sunday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.
Servicemen of engineering units prevented terrorist acts in the Vedeno, Nozhai-Yurt and Shatoi districts of the breakaway republic. Sappers provided safe movement of convoys on the roads connecting the town of Argun with the localities of Grozny, Novogroznensky and Shali.
According to the spokesman, sappers detained three residents of the Zony and Gordali villages on suspicion of planting landmines.
Federal units exposed 12 arms and ammo caches in the Dachu- Borzoi, Duba-Yurt and Regita villages on Sunday. They confiscated 48 pieces of small-arms, 5,400 cartridges, 12 artillery shells, 18 mines and 1.4kg of explosives.
The federals also destroyed 32 illegal oil refineries.
