Control rehearsal of military parade to take place at Red Square

MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Moscow's Red Square will host on Tuesday a control rehearsal of the Victory Day parade, the press service of the Moscow military district reported.

The rehearsal will be supervised by the district's commander Colonel General Ivan Yefremov.

A total of 5,187 servicemen of 14 regiments will take part in the parade; personnel of the Emergency Ministry Academy will participate in the parade for the first time.

Yefremov will be the parade commander; Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov will review the troops.

Some 2,000 invitations have been issued to war veterans who are not to take part in the parade this year; military hardware is not to be demonstrated either. Access to the Red Square will be attained though six checkpoints.

Holiday salute will be organized at 33 points in Moscow, including the enclave of Zelenograd.
