KHANKALA. May 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Units and detachments of the unified federal troops group in the North Caucasus carried out 11 special operations in Chechnya on Tuesday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
The spokesman said that the operations were conducted in the city of Grozny, as well as in the Vedeno, Nozhai-Yurt, Shali and Shelkovskaya districts of Chechnya. Three people were arrested on suspicion of being members of illegal guerilla gangs.
Eight caches used for storing arms, munitions, food and equipment were found in the course of the operations. Servicemen of the federal forces confiscated nine pieces of small arms, ten artillery rounds, eight mortar shells, six rocket launchers, 15 hand grenades, some 14.5 kilograms of explosives and 6,500 small arms rounds.
As many as 78 mini-plants engaged in illegal refining oil products were found and dissembled.
