SEVASTOPOL. May 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Officials of the NATO Allied Command Atlantic (ACLANT) are training officers of Ukrainian Navy departments and commanders of the Navy's units and vessels in Sevastopol, a source in the Navy Staff told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
The training is a part of the Planning and Review Process that is offered to NATO partners in the framework of the Partnership for Peace program.
"The training started on Friday and will continue on Monday and Tuesday. The implementation of the Planning and Review Process as an integral part of the Partnership for Peace program started several years ago with a goal to ensure the transparency of military planning in Ukraine and develop operational and technical compatibility of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and NATO bodies," the source said.
Moreover, "a conference on elaboration of the plan of future cooperation between the Ukrainian Navy and NATO for 2003-2004 will take place" in Sevastopol, the source stressed.
He added that "several business meetings between ACLANT officials and Ukrainian Navy Commander Mykhaylo Yezhel and other navy leaders" would take place in the framework of the visit which is to end on May 30.
