Russian Air Force chief to visit Japan May 26-31

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Air Force Commander Vladimir Mikhailov will make a working visit to Japan from May 26 to 31, chief of the Air Force press service Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax-Military News Agency.

While staying in Japan, Mikhailov will hold several meetings and negotiations with the Japanese Self-Defense Forces leadership including General Seji Takegouchi, chief of the Joint Chiefs-of- Staff, and Air Force Commander Ikuo Totake.

Mikhailov is supposed to visit the Hyakuri, Iruma and Hahamatsu aviation bases, Ichigaya compound, Air Force training command and college for applicants for Air Force officers.

A Japanese military delegation visited Moscow in 2001. Its participants and their Russian colleagues discussed the installation of means of communication between Japanese and Russian air force command posts allowing the parties to quickly inform each other on emergency and extraordinary situations.
