Monday sees fifth anniversary of Russia-NATO Founding Act

MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax-AVN) - It is five years since the signing of the Russia-NATO Founding Act on Monday.

"The document and the Permanent Joint Council set up on its basis have played a positive role. They created a channel for a political dialogue, shaped the foundations of the culture of interaction in the military sphere among others," Kremlin sources have told Interfax.

According to them, Russia and NATO have come to better understand each other's logic and mechanism of decision-making.

However, this is no longer enough today, the sources said. "The course of developments has shown that Russia, the United States and other countries of the alliance can and should act as allies in resisting international terrorism. Hence, the priority task of consolidating this new quality in Russia-NATO relations, bringing them to the level of jointly guaranteeing strategic security throughout the common Eurasian space," they said.
