MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Chief-of-Staff of the Russian Land Forces Lieutenant General Alexander Morozov and a group of officers and generals flew to the North Caucasus on Monday, a spokesman for the Land Forces Command told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The main aim of the 10-day trip is to control the preparation of the training and logistics support facilities and initiation of summer combat training in units of the 58th join-arms army headquartered in the city of Vladikavkaz.
Morozov will meet with the army's commander Lieutenant General Valery Gerasimov and his deputies on working issues. He will study plans of mobilization and combat readiness of troops.
The officials will also discuss the relocation of the 503rd motorized rifle regiment of the 19th motorized rifle division from Vladikavkaz to the Ingush autonomous republic to protect the Ingush- Chechen administrative border. The main problem is the provision of materiel support to the motorized riflemen in the new stationing area.
The 503rd regiment is under command of Colonel Roman Shadrin.
During the trip Morozov will visit the unified federal headquarters in Khankala and units of the 42nd motorized rifle permanent readiness division stationed in Chechnya.
