Russian military ecologists arrive in Ukraine

MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax-AVN) - A delegation of Russian military ecologists led by Colonel Artur Kranke, head of the Defense Ministry ecological center, arrived in Kyiv for a four-day working visit early on Monday, a spokesman for the Russian Armed Forces environmental security department told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The Russian military delegation came to Ukraine to share experience in the rehabilitation of territories polluted in the course of the troops' activities," the spokesman said.

The delegation is supposed to meet with Colonel Mykola Pobelyan, chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces environmental security, and Colonel Igor Mazar, deputy chief of the Ukrainian WMD protection troops.

"Participants in the meetings will discuss ecotechnical aspects of the rehabilitation of territories polluted in the course of the troops' activities," the spokesman stressed.

In particular, they will consider the definition of possible cooperation between the Russian and Ukrainian environment protection agencies in the framework of programs of the rehabilitation of territories polluted in the course of the troops' activities and other issues of mutual interest.
