MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukraine can procure some advanced armament assets of Russian make in the near future, a source at the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
A delegation of Ukrainian military experts arrived in Moscow in order to consider products offered by the Russian defense industry; the delegation is headed by deputy chief of armament of the Ukrainian armed forces Lieutenant General Mykhaylo Mitrakhovich.
The source said that the experts were interested in aircraft, above all, as well as in programs on upgrading fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force.
On Tuesday members of the delegation met with chief of armament of the Russian Armed Forces and deputy defense minister Colonel General Alexei Moskovsky, representatives of the Russian Control Systems Agency, Russian Aviation and Space Agency and other companies of the Russian defense industry.
Mitrakhovich and other members of the delegation are to visit defense industry enterprises based in the city of Tula on Wednesday.
A member of the delegation told Interfax-AVN that the visit is a scheduled one, yet the Ukrainian military were again to assess the potential of Russian defense industry enterprises. He added that the Ukrainian Defense Ministry had some funds that were to be used for acquisition of arms and military equipment, yet it is necessary to determine the scale of procurement.
The Ukrainian delegation comprises military experts and specialists of the Ukrspetspoekt state-owned company.
