Russia, Ukraine discuss cooperation in production of S-300PMU1 SAM system

MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax-AVN) - A delegation of the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader and Raspletin Almaz research and production enterprise has held negotiations with the leadership of Ukraine's Novokramatorsk machine-building plant, Almaz director general Igor Ashurbeili said on Wednesday.

The talks took place in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk. They focused on the Novokramatorsk plant's involvement production of the S-300PMU1 surface-to-air missile system, Ashurbeili told Interfax- Military News Agency.

In addition to the management of the plant, officials of the Ukrspetsexport state-owned arms trader took part in the talks on behalf of Ukraine. Details on the negotiations are not disclosed.

The parties came to an agreement on all discussed issues, Ashurbeili stressed.

According to him, the Kramatorsk plant is a member of the cooperation that designs and manufactures some elements of the S- 300PMU-1 system. It has cooperated with Almaz, the system's main developer, for a long time.

The Novokramatorsk plant is among the oldest machine-building companies in Ukraine. It employs over 16,000 people.
