MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said he understands the Indian leadership's concern over the activities of terrorist groups in Kashmir and called for normalization of Indian-Pakistani relations.
The parties to the Russia-EU summit in Moscow believe that "taking resolute steps to put an end to the activities of terrorist organizations in Pakistani-controlled territory would promote the normalization of relations between India and Pakistan," he told a news conference that followed the summit.
"We share the view that an armed conflict would be very dangerous and have dire consequences for security and stability far beyond the region," Putin said.
The parties to the summit agreed to continue coordination of efforts aimed at preventing hostilities or their degeneration into a full-scale military confrontation, Putin said. This unanimity is "another example of close cooperation between Russia and the EU," he said.
