Black Sea Fleet to concentrate on preparations for Mediterranean voyages in summer

SEVASTOPOL. June 3 (Interfax-AVN) - The summer training period that has started at the Black Sea Fleet will feature many sea voyages intended for accomplishment of combat training missions and will culminate in a training voyage scheduled for August, the fleet's commander Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov said at a Monday meeting in Sevastopol timed to the beginning of the summer training period.

Komoyedov said high-quality preparation of the Moskva guard missile ship, Pytlivy guard ship and Azov large landing ship for autumn voyages to Mediterranean countries was among the most important tasks in summer.

In particular, a detachment of vessels comprising the Moskva, Pytlivy and Ivan Bubnov tanker will make a visit to Cannes in September. The Azov will sail to the Greek port of Pilos in October to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Navarin battle.

According to Komoyedov, "the fleet accomplished all missions assigned to it for the winter training period."
