India ready for dialogue with Pakistan - PM

ALMATY. June 4 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - India is ready for a dialogue with Pakistan to settle the problem of Kashmir, Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Almaty on Tuesday.

It is India that has been coming out for four years with an initiative to settle the Kashmir problem, and it is ready to hold talks with Pakistan, he said.

He recognized certain positive new elements in the Pakistani stance lately. He spoke for paying attention to Pakistan's announcement that it will not allow its territory to be used by terrorists.

Vajpayee also drew attention to the attitude of Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, who is taking certain steps toward a dialogue between India and Pakistan.
