UN official understands Abkhazian fears on possible use of Georgian anti-terrorist units against Abkhazia

TBILISI. June 4 (Interfax-AVN) - The UN mission in Georgia understands Abkhazian fears about the possible use of US-trained Georgian special purpose units against Abkhazia, Dieter Boden, former special representative of the UN secretary general in Georgia, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.

Boden, who completed his mission in Georgia, will end handing of duties to his successor Heidi Telyavini soon.

At the same time Boden called for not dramatizing the situation and trusting statements of Georgian authorities on the intention to solve the Abkhazian problem politically. "I have no basics for not trusting the Georgian leadership which states that it is going to solve the Abkhazian problem by peaceful and political way," Boden said.

He mentioned that "the anti-terrorist forces which are being established in Georgia might become a serious factor on strengthening stability and establishing law and order in the country which is to finally contribute to the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict settlement."
