KHANKALA. June 5 (Interfax-AVN) - A stationing area of a large rebel group comprising some 30 people has been found by a federal reconnaissance team in forest-covered mountains near the Arishty village in Chechnya's Vedeno district, a source in the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
"An operation to detect the gang's stationing area was carried out on the basis of information obtained from local residents," the source said.
A special operation to seal off and destroy the gang will take place in the near future, he stressed.
Several rebel groups are operating in the district. "Their core is made up of Arab mercenaries as well as Georgian and Armenian natives," the source went on.
He added that a hidden rebel camp capable of housing 20 people for a short time had been found west of the town of Vedeno. The camp was blasted.
