MOSCOW. June 6 (Intrefax-AVN) - The NATO Information Office in Moscow will start issuing its own newsletter soon, director of the office Rolf Welberts said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper published on Thursday.
The newsletter's goal is to create a positive image of NATO in Russia, Welberts said.
There is still a long way to go before Cold War stereotypes are brought down and the word NATO stops being an irritant for the Russian people, the director stressed.
He also said that the NATO Information Office in Moscow was promoting a large-scale project called Winter Academy, which is a two-week set of seminars for 40 young specialists in foreign relations.
This year Winter Academy will focus on relations between Russia, NATO and the European Union in the sphere of European security. The aim of the program is to educate a new generation of Russian experts in the security field who will be free of Cold War preconceptions. Organizers of the program believe that it is necessary to establish close and long-term relations with regional higher educational establishments and officials of local administration bodies in order to contribute to proliferation of data on relations between Russia and NATO in Russian regions.
