MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Only one regiment-level tactical exercise will live firing will take place in the Land Forces in the summer training period, Lieutenant General Alexander Gerasimov, deputy head of the Armed Forces main combat training department, told Interfax-Military News Agency on Thursday.
The exercise will be held in the 3rd Visla motorized rifle division of the Moscow military district in September. The division under command of Colonel Alexander Konnov is headquartered in the town of Mulino in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Cadets of the Defense Ministry's military academies will attend the exercise.
"Due to insufficient financing of combat training Land Forces Commander and Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Kormiltsev has made a decision to reduce the number of expensive events related to tactical training in districts," Gerasimov said.
He noted that the basis for combat harmonization will be provided by company-level tactical exercises with live firing within regiments and battalion-level tactical exercises with live firing within divisions.
"The main stage of company- and battalion-level tactical exercises with live firing will take place in August and September," Gerasimov added.
