BRUSSELS. June 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia, the United States and China fully agree on the need to coordinate efforts towards settleing the conflict between India and Pakistan, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said.
"These three countries already coordinate their actions: none of them makes a related move without prior consulting and clarifying the position of the other two countries," Ivanov told the press in Brussels on Thursday.
None of the three countries seeks a leading position in the Indian- Pakistani settlement, he said. "Artificial attempts to be the leader, especially at the expense of others, are fraught with negative consequences," Ivanov remarked.
The development of the military aspect of the Indian- Pakistani conflict will depend on how much Islamabad controls the internal situation, he noted.
"We are very pleased with statements from the Pakistani administration that in the future, the territory of Pakistan will not be used as a shelter by terrorists of all kinds and nationalities. We very much hope that Chechen, Uigur and other terrorists who are being driven away from Afghanistan will not settle on Pakistani territory," Ivanov said.
