Federal destroy five rebels in Chechnya

KHANKALA. June 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Thursday's special operations of federal troops resulted in the elimination of five rebels and detention of seven suspected guerrillas in Chechnya, sources in the unified federal headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.

No casualties were registered among federals, a source said.

According to him, federal forces seized 17 grenade launchers, 12 small-arms pieces, some 30 artillery and mortar shells, over 30,000 various cartridges and over 6kg of explosives on Thursday.

Law-enforcers engaged in search operations found and destroyed 32 illegal oil refineries and six makeshift explosive devices, the sources added.
